The Lomonosov Imperial Porcelain Factory was founded in St. Petersburg in 1744 under the decree of Peter the Great's daughter Empress Elizabeth. It was the first porcelain company in Russia and the third in all of Europe. This is where the talented Russian scientist Dmitry Vinogradov (1720-1758) discovered the secret of making "white gold." He was the first in the history of ceramics who made a scientific description of porcelain production. The Russian porcelain by Vinogradov had qualities similar to Meissen porcelain. Lomonosov Factory produces beautiful dinner and tea sets. Each of the items is HAND PAINTED and a lot of them are gold plated, so they can differ in colors as they are done by different painters. The original Lomonosov factory logo is on the bottom of each piece. Material: soft-paste porcelain. Made in Russia by the Imperial Lomonosov Porcelain Factory
