This is a unique album of Russian Porcelain and Ceramics of XVIII, XIX and XX Centuries called Russian Gzhel. Gzhel is the famous blue and white porcelain from Russia. This porcelain takes its name from village of Gzhel located 60 km from Moscow. Blue color Gzhel got from blue cobalt. The name Gzhel originated from the Russian word, which means burn, in the sense of firing clay. The region of Gzhel is famous for its fabulous clay. In the 17-th century Russian Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich learned about super clay and large-scale production began. Porcelain from Russian Gzhel has a long history, from semi-faience to faience, and later to porcelain. The book was created by V. Loginov who made historical outline about Russian handmade Gzhel ceramic and porcelain as most wonderful example of applied art. The book was published in Moscow in 1989, in USSR by Planeta Publishers. Hard cover; dust jacket. It has a lot of illustrations with captions and has 183 pages. The book is written in 2 languages (Russian and English). The book is lightly used but it is in excellent condition but dust jacket has light signs of wearing. Cloth binding. Size: 13 x 9.75 inches.
