ORIGINAL IMPERIAL RUSSIAN MEDAL Red Cross during Russian-Japanese War 1904-1905 -97C $499.95 This is an ORIGINAL Authentic Imperial Russian Medal for Red Cross during Russian-Japanese War 1904-1905. The medal is made out of 84 proof silver and baked enamel; 25 mm diameter and 7.89 gram weight. Excellent condition. The medal was established on January 19, 1906 by the order of Russian Emperor Nicholas the II. The medal was awarded to citizens who participated in the activities of the Russian Red Cross during the war with Japan (1904-1905). Doctors, orderlies, sisters of mercy, employees of the infirmary, students, pharmacists, volunteers, officials, and so on, regardless of gender, were awarded. Individuals who made significant monetary or material donations to the needs of the Red Cross or contributed to such donations were also awarded. From March 27, 1907, some military personnel also received this medal. When issuing a medal, the cost of manufacturing the medal was withheld from the recipients in favor of the Red Cross.
