This is a great deep hand carved solid heavy wooden plaque of Belarusian bull Zubr – European buffalo made in USSR, Belarus in 1980s. This plaque is made from three 1-1/2” thick boards connected side by side with jag cut (see picture). This connection involved a lot of time and skill. The plaque has plaque hanger on the back. Size of the carving is 17.75 x10.5 x 1.5”, weight over 3.4LB. It is very unique peace. It is great home or office decoration or Christmas gift especially to hunters. Zubrs or European buffaloes are huge bulls up to 1000 kg or 2200 lb. They are bred in dense forest located in Belarus near Polish border under the name Belavezhskaya Puscha. After WW2 only 20 species of Zubrs left. Right now almost 1500 zubrs live in this forest. This animal is one of the symbols of Belarus.
