This is a Vintage Original Soviet Medal for Distinguished Service on the USSR State Border. It is made of German silver or Neusilber alloy and silver plated. The medal is very rare and was issued by Soviet Mint, circa 1970s. Weight of the medal without suspension 16.1G; diameter 32mm. The Medal for Distinguished Service on the USSR State Border was established by a Decree of the Presidium of the USSR Supreme Soviet on July 13, 1950. The Medal for Distinguished Service USSR State Border is awarded to border guards, servicemen of the USSR armed forces and civilians for special services rendered in defense of USSR state borders.
