This nice small Russian lacquer box The Nutcracker and the Mouse King was created by great Russian artist Serov from Palekh in 2002. The box is hand painted and signed by the artist. On the top of the box you can see written in Russian language: subject of the painting, name of the art school and the signature of the artist (see detail). The box represents German writer Hoffman fairy tale “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King”. Size of the box is 2 x 2 x 1 inches. Great for the collection. Russian lacquer boxes are well known all over the world. There are four villages located not far from Moscow, which create Russian lacquer miniatures. The schools of this art (named by villages) are PALEKH, MSTERA, KHOLYI, and FEDOSKINO. Russian lacquer boxes are well known all over the world.
