Antique 1864 Badge of the Soltys Village Governor of Lublin Voivodeship #187 $449.95 This is an extremely rare antique Badge of the reeve of the commune of the Lublin governorate of Poland, which was a part of Russian Empire at that time. It was issued on February 19,1864 by Imperial Russian Government. By decree of the Russian Emperor Alexander the II on February 19, 1864, Polish peasants received ownership of the arable land that they cultivated. The landowners received compensation from the treasury with so-called liquidation papers according to the assessment of the alienated lands. At the same time, an all-class gmina was established. On the one side the badge has the date and the monogram of Alexander the II; on the other side the badge has the emblem of Lublin and the word Soltys, which means the village governor. It is made out of heavy bronze; diameter 2'', length including beam 3.2'', length of beam 2.2'', weight 48.6G. Excellent antique condition. This item is very rare for any collection.
