We are selling this doll from huge owner collection which was created from 1970s to 1990s. This is a very unusual nesting doll Matrioshka/Babushka made in shape of mushroom. The set consists of large mushroom with 5 small mushrooms inside. Each of the mushroom has Eastere design. The dolls are hand painted and wood burnt all around in Sergiev Posad, Russia and signed by Russian artist. Great for collection. Size 4.75''. Russian Island is selling ONLY Russian made dolls!!! No cheap copies, all the dolls are authentic!!! In Russia making wooden objects which fit each inside other has many Centuries tradition. Gradually these figurines became to be carved in the shape of dolls. These dolls were made and painted by Russian craftsmen. This fabulous Russian doll was given the name MATRIOSHKA [matryoshka, matreshka] which originated from root of the word maternity. It became a symbol of FERTILITY and PERPETUATION. It is a good luck present for a very long time. Excellent vintage condition but it might have very small imperfections (see picture).
