This vintage USSR/Belarus wooden plaque is completely handmade out of furniture type 3/8 plywood in Belarus USSR in 1988. Very interesting technique used for many Centuries by Russian artists. Artists use birch wood as a base (because birch has a very light color). They cut it in right size, polish it and paint in brown color. After the paint is dried they carve out the picture. It is very unusual and beautiful. Because birch plywood is light result after carving is wonderful. This art work is very collectible because it was made by Belarusian artist individually in USSR. The beautiful plaque has original tag with name of the factory and date of production. Artist intricately carved Old Russian Forest on this plaque. Size is 17 x 12.5”. Because the plaques are handmade they might be slightly different.
